Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has been impeached. In a vote of no confidence tabled against the governor, 88 members of county assembly (MCA) out of the total of 122 MCAs voted in favor of the impeachment motion against the governor.
Speaking while tabling the motion, Michael Oganda said “This is a business that has never been executed before in this house. We are here to execute our last mandate, our last resort. We have consulted and we have tried. Mr .Speaker we have held meetings in your office together with the executive to try find solution on how we bring solutions to this county. But we have no other option but to execute our last mandate to impeach Governor Sonko”.
58 mmembers attended the county chambers while others voted virtually. The decision of the county assembly will now be forwarded to the Senate for the final decision.
