How Mourinho turned down a return to Real Madrid after Zinedine exit

Real Madrid approached Jose Mourinho over a sensational return to the Bernabeu’ before appointing Carlo Ancelotti despite the ex-Tottenham boss only taking Roma job last month. This is according to reliable sources from the Spanish media who allege that the Spanish giants held talks with Mourinho last week and over the weekend over the plan to take over at the Bernabeu.

According to the reports, after having agreed to take over the Roma job, the special one turned down the offer, choosing instead to continue with his Roma project.

According to the Telegraph, Mourinho was informally approached by Real at the end of last week before they made contact again over the weekend.

The former Tottenham and real madrid manager however made it clear he had no interest in a return as he had agreed to take the Roma job and is excited by the challenge ahead.

Real’s Champions League status is in doubt next season with the threat of being banned by UEFA as a result of their involvement in the European Super League plot.
